The English Exam I was going to take in my foundation year is IELTS. At first, I was wondering what IELTS is.
After doing some research, IELTS stands for International English Language Testing System, the world's proven English language test (Retrieved from IELTS Partners (2009-2012) website: http://www.ielts.org/default.aspx).
According to my lecturer, Miss Thivilojana Perinpasingam , the exam is divided into writing, listening and speaking.

ESSAY WRITING
Aim :
● learn to practice in basic 5-paragraph argumentative essay writing.
● learn to do research information to support the points in the essay.
● learn to cite the sources of information and apply correct APA style referencing techniques.
Accomplishment :
Firstly, do a pre-writing. There is five pre-writing techiques, that are :

● questioning
● make a list
● diagramming or clustering
● scratch outline
Think - Point - Support - Arrange - Revise - Edit - Outline
Then, begins with a point and find the thesis with specific evidence. Organization is the next step we have to do, which is divided into common methods, transitions and other connecting words.
After all, a well-written introductory paragraph is also needed to attract reader's interest and also concluding paragraph is the chance to remind the reader of a thesis idea.
Last but not least, put the citation at the end of the essay. The way of doing citation refers to http://www2.liu.edu/cwis/cwp/library/workshop/citapa.htm
Reflection :
I have learnt the proper way to write a well-arranged essay writing. I used to write down anything for my essay. I never made a pre writing and think of the arrangement of my essay. In addition, I did not know that I have to cite the sources of information I found. Now, I know it is a must and how the way I cite it. However, I still need to be ware of my grammar mistake in essay. My vocabulary have to be upgraded as well.

However, in some parts of listening, I still cannot catch up and need to replay one more time. I would like to watch some English movies and news to improve my listening.
